At the beginning of October all our girls, teachers and support staff made the long journey down from Upper Mustang across the Himalayan mountains to Pokhara to begin winter term and immediately began cleaning to prepare the dormitories, classrooms and dining area.

Classes are in full swing already with a full day beginning at 5am with chanting followed by exercise and breakfast.

Already there’s a need to build the second storey of classrooms now that there are 8 classes.   The roof is already being prepared to take the second storey.

Here are some scenes from maths, science, Tibetan and English studies for the little ones, easily distracted taking their English lessons in the lobby.

3 new girls arrived and have settled in already

Great fun was had by all in a painting competition. A selection of stones have been brought back to the UK to share in a stone sharing group.  This fun idea comes from the US where this has become really popular in some towns and communities and is now spreading through the UK.  Stones are decorated and left to be found by others in a park or other public outdoor space. Found stones can be left, kept or moved to a new location for someone else to find.  Stones from a UK group were taken to the school in Pokhara to be shared across cultures.

And last and by no means not least for now, an update on our fundraiser.  We have managed to raise almost 70% of our 2,500 EUR target to collect enough funds to build a library and study area at the school in Mustang.

Heartfelt thanks to all our friends and supporters for generously giving so much in just 6 weeks of fundraising.

We’re planning to begin ordering construction materials soon and are hoping they can be transported before the harsh winter weather sets in so when summer term begins in March/April next year then the girls may have a library and study area to support them in their studies.

Just a reminder – our fundraiser target is to raise €2,500 to build a study area and library in Mustang. The girls have no designated study areas due to our rapid expansion and have to study on their beds in a shared bedroom or in the dining area.  Now that we have 8 classes, the more advanced students really need a more conducive area to help them make the most of their studies.

All donations are very gratefully received and will are transferred directly to the school to fund this project.  As we are volunteers in our small charity, we have no overheads and can assure our donors that no deductions are made from donation monies received.

Very many thanks to everyone for their kindness in supporting us so far either with a financial donation and/or sharing to increase awareness.  Please, please continue to help spread the word by sharing with family & friends.

Can you spare the cost of even a cup of coffee and donate $3, £3 or €3 by clicking the link below to help us raise funds to build a study area and library for our girls?
