National Exam Time!

It’s that time of year the world over, where national exams are taking place and students, teachers and parents wait anxiously to see the outcome of their combined efforts!

This year the school taught, for the first time, year 11 national curriculum and year 10 for the second consecutive year.

The exams are not conducted at school, instead students must travel and reside at a national exam centre where they stay, study for revision and take their exams alongside students from other schools in the region.

Proud Beyond Measure!

Of course, we’re proud of our students irrespective of their “performance”.  What matters most is that the children are becoming kind and considerate human beings and will benefit their families and society as a whole as adults.

Nevertheless, we can’t help but feel immense pride at out 2 year 11 students for their hard work and study this year.  It’s not easy being the first class through a new curriculum.  They have paved the way and set the bar high for other students following on in later years.

We can see that their teachers’ efforts and all the support from our kind sponsors (yes, that’s you all!) and staff at the school have been so worthwhile!

Grateful Thanks to you all!

Good luck to you both entering Year 12!  Another first for school

We Hardly Dared Dream!

I think it’s fair to say that when we trekked to open the school just north of Thinggar Village in Upper Mustang back in August 2012, I personally had no imagination that the school would have achieved so much for so many children!

Dreams Can Come True!

Since that time over 170 girls, many of them really vulnerable and all of them impoverished, have been at the school.  some don’t stay long – just a year or so and others have been with us since the beginning!  Many go on to find employment (in several cases overseas in France or the USA!), some are needed to help support their families, especially elderly of sick relatives and some are able to attend school nearer their homes as their family circumstances improve.

Nevertheless, with some education and an opportunity to learn English, these children have a better opportunity in life and to help their families break the cycle of poverty.

We now need to look towards a future where we help our senior graduates through University.  Well, we need to try to help them go “all the way”!

And For The Second Consecutive Year!

Year 10 students, for the second year running followed in the footsteps of their year 11 classmates and did exceptionally well also in their national exams.  What a credit they are to the school too

Younger Ambassadors….

More news later but I hope you enjoy these photos of younger children representing the school at inter-regional school “talent” programmes – presenting their project on “The Evolution of Artificial Intelligence” and enjoying visits to other schools in the region.

No Teachers No School!

And of course, without good teachers we have no school!  The school is showing they can achieve exceptional results providing an education and safe home for so many kids who would otherwise have no access to an education.
