End of Winter Term Fast Approaching
DonateWinter term end is fast approaching and soon students, staff and support staff will make the challenging journey home again to Upper Mustang. For those of them that can get home or have families to meet they will be happy to join their families for a month before summer term begins in April.
Exams are over and before term can end, teachers face the year and workload of marking papers and preparing student reports.
The younger girls have been enjoying their free time preparing drawings for their sponsors which will be mailed together with their end of term school reports. It’s so lovely receiving these masterpieces and sponsors love to receive them we know.
As the end of term time approaches and teaching has almost ended it’s time to say farewell to our dear Tibetan teacher Gen Rinchen-la and staff and students met together in celebration of his kind efforts and to wish him future good health.
Many of you will know about the fundraising for the new shrine and teaching hall at the school in Mustang.
The school is fast becoming an important community asset and last year over 400 people came from all over the Himalayan regions of Dolpo and Mustang to attend Buddhist teachings at the school. As these important teachings are becoming available to “local” people now, it’s becoming imperative to have proper facilities. Mustang is so windy that it’s not possible to keep the tent roof from blowing off! And so many people are coming now they can’t be accommodated in the courtyard undercover and protected from the scorching sun.
Exciting to see that enough funds have been raised so far to buy some wood to begin construction and this week timber was loaded onto the tractor to begin the trek up to Mustang.
Many many thanks to all of you that have supported this important fund raising effort.
And just to finish – some delightful snaps of some of our little ones enjoying playing and enjoying the fading evening sunlight with one of their delightful teachers.
