News Is Sparse….

The school in the evening light Sparse news in lock down Communications are obviously more challenging during the lock down period and news is less frequent.  After nearly 4 months with travel restrictions in place, we’re happy though to share that some children from villages nearer to the school in Mustang are able to return.   For our girls whose families live in even more remote areas such as Dolpo and Rukum in the impoverished western regions, they are unable to get back to school due to the strict travel restrictions still in place. The nunnery school is doubling up as home for...

We Are Living In Challenging Times….

Sorry for the delay in sending news….We are indeed living in challenging times.  Today, I’m mindful that it was 5 years ago today that the deadly earthquake struck in Nepal killing over 9,000 people.  5 years later we face the difficulties of living with corona virus and the challenges of staying safe and healthy. I’m grateful and happy to let you know that all students and staff are safe and healthy.  The school decided to close their doors to visitors at the beginning of March ,  a few weeks before the formal lock down was initiated.  Everyone had regular cleaning duties...

News of Spring 2020 School Visit

A wonderful trip to the winter school Having delayed the visit from November 2019 due to work commitments, the long awaited annual visit to see the girls in girls at their winter school arrived at last. Our kind supporters have been very generous and loaded with knitted warm clothing, underwear, maths & science teaching aids, English & maths books we limited our own personal luggage to carry on only! National Exams have begun It seems hardly any time at all since our girls were sitting their end of term exams in Mustang.  Now in winter school it’s test time again.  Oral exams began last weekend and Nepalese national exams have begun for everyone this week.  Luckily the daytime weather is crisp and sunny in Pokhara so there’s plenty of opportunity for last minute studying in the sun.
