Summer Term 2019 Comes To An End

Summer Term Has Ended This summer, news from the school has been sporadic due to poor network access.  So quite a lot of news to share now.  Summer has passed  and now students who have families, and those who can get home, have now left for a one month vacation whilst the remaining girls and staff have travelled to stay at winter school in Pokhara during the vacation time. Winter term will begin again week of 25th October 2019 at the winter school in Pokhara and we’re very much looking forwards to visiting everyone there shortly after the start of the new term. Holidays And Sustainability

Holidays begin for the youngsters and more news on our Apple Tree project  The end of the winter term has arrived at the winter school in Pokhara and the younger girls who can get home, and those who have homes to go to, have set off for Upper Mustang for their one month holiday before the new summer term begins in May. Today, is the beginning of Tibetan and Chinese New Year celebrations for 2146.  We are entering the year of The Earth Pig. Special prayers (puja) have been recited in school to purify diseases, obstacles and misfortunes in the coming New Year.   2 days ago Gutor, the 29th Day of Tibetan Lunar Calendar, was celebrated.   A special 9 ingredient noodle soup called ‘Guthuk  is traditionally eaten in the evening with dumplings . It hardly seems anytime at all since term began and already exams are here again! This week has witnessed a very important milestone – Year 8 Basic Level Examination of Pal Ewan Namgyal Monastic School under the supervision of  Lomanthamg Rural Municipality. No news for a while whilst the girls were at school in Mustang and now 2 newsletters come along in close proximity!  As I mentioned in the recent blog, we are now ready to launch our latest fundraiser to help raise funds for our teachers’ salaries for next year.
